Economic Challenges

  • The US coal mining sector (as well as other industrial sectors) continues to lose jobs.
     

  • The coal industry needs investments in green products to thrive.

Opportunities

  • As stated, CoalChar is produced using solar power making it a viable “green” product for the coal industry.
     

  • The product would meet demands for the agricultural industry. More land to farm equates to more revenue from better products and the creation of more jobs.
     

  • A pilot plant (of which the design has already started) would create jobs, employing full-time workers.
     

  • Success of the plant would expand business into other sites, creating additional jobs in West Virginia.
